Card Clock

What exactly is Processor Clock on a graphics card?
I'm trying to get my friend to buy my GTX 470 to upgrade from his GT 8800. And while he was pleased with the higher specs we noticed that the Processor Clock was lower on the 470 than the 8800. Before he buys my card he wants to know exactly what the Processor Clock is and what it does.
It's how fast the GPU is clocked, just like the clock speed on CPUs/processors.
You can't evaluate graphics cards just by looking at underlying specs like core & memory speeds, stream processors and bandwidth. The GPU designs have changed much over the years and just how powerful a GPU happens to be compared to earlier generation models isn't something expressed in a numerical value. You need to check reviews.
For example, look at CPUs for a second... When Core 2 Duos were introduced back in 2006, Intel had made the core architecture more powerful and efficient, so they did more work per clock cycle. Even a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo was FAR faster than a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4, despite being clocked lower.
Clock speed alone doesn't mean anything. Same for memory bandwidth. The 9800GT is a 256-bit card but it's slower than the 128-bit Radeon HD 4770. That's because the 4770's smaller pipeline goes to faster GDDR5 memory, whereas the 9800GT has wider pipeline to slower memory. In a nutshell, you can't get any realistic sense of how cards perform just looking at specs alone. There are too many factors which impact the end result. The specs are mostly useful for comparing cards which are otherwise fairly close together in performance. For example a 256-bit GTX 460 is better than a 192-bit version of the same card. But you won't know exactly how much until you check some reviews.
For a performance reference, consider that the GeForce 9800GT is basically the same card as the 8800GT- Nvidia tweaked it slightly, improved the energy efficiency and renamed it, but speed/performance is essentially the same.
So here's the 9800GT relative to other entry-level/low midrange cards playing CoD. It's just slightly better than the Radeon HD 5670, but below the Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 5750:

Now on this chart of midrange to high-end cards, the Radeon HD 5750 (the top card on the previous chart) is at the very bottom. Start moving up until you hit the GTX 470.

That's the difference
