need help with choosing processor?
I need to get a laptop for college which is more portable but still powerful because i do alot of video / music editing and i DJ. Not to mention I do game quite a bit and like a fast computer overall. As far as all of the other aspects are concerned I know about them and know what I need. But i don't know much about the new intel procssors. I'm thinking of getting the core i7 720QM which is clocked at 1.60 - 2.80 GHZ and has 6MB of L3 cache. Cache wise it's fine but i'm a little worried about the clock speed. For all of my multi threaded applications such as the multimedia editing and DJing and resouce heavy games, it seems that the clock speed will be around 1.6 since all four cores will be used. Am i wrong about this? and will 1.6 GHZ be enough to keep the laptop running fast and without lag or anything. This is about good for price, the next level up is another 250 bucks so if I can i'd like to stay on this but if needed i'm willing to upgrade. Any help is appreciated
core i7 is the fastest processor on the planet.don't worry about the cloak speed as u have 7 cores each acting as a individual parallel processor so your work load gets divided into 7 parallel threads hence its equivalent of having 7 processors each @1.6-2.80 GHz.i would also suggest to go for a nvidia card with CUDA technology or Ati card with stream of course i am talking about the mobile series of these graphic cards it will be useful for your video editing and multimedia stuff.toughest video codec to decode is the avc h264 which can be done using a core 2 duo.then i don't have any reason why the i7core will not be sufficient.
